Our Chairperson -- Vince Harrigan
He is passionate about caring for country and has been our Chair because he wants to make a real difference in our Cape York Community He is a local indigenous man born and bred in Cape York, a Traditional Owner and Ranger from Normanby Station in Southern Cape York. The 31,400 acre property was returned to his family in the 1990s. Vince says he can see Our Country becoming healthy again.

He is passionate about caring for country and has put his hand up to be our Deputy Chair because he wants the world to know our Cape York Community. He is a local indigenous man born and bred in Cape York, a Traditional Owner with experience working and looking after his country.
He has a strong connection to Cape York with family ties to Gungarde (Cooktown) and Hopevale.
Our Treasurer - Kathleen Elmes
She has been our long term financial wizard. Born and bred in Far North Queensland, She loves Cape York and wants to see our work continue many years into the future. She says it is amazing what our small group has achieved with very little resourcing

Trevor Meldrum
I am a born and bred Cape York Peninsula Indigenous Local. My family has ties with the Princess Charlotte Bay region, as well as Lakefield, and the Palmer River. For the last twenty-nine years, I have lived and worked in environmental and natural resource management roles, with a strong focus on Natural Resource, Weeds and Feral Animals management.

We are a First Nations Organisation,focusing on Aboriginal Cultural, strategically working with Natural Resource Management, Environmental rehabilitation, Weeds, Feral Animal control, Indigenous Bama Employment, and Community Well-being. We are the 2021 National Landcare Awards --Finalists receiving Special Recognition, and the Winner of the Queensland Land-Care Indigenous Land Management Award November 2019. We are a small non-profit Indigenous group who is focused on the environment, community health and wellbeing. We are involved in a variety of projects in Cape York Peninsula. Currently our group is run by volunteers and part time officers. They have over thirty years of on ground experience in; On Ground Weed Management, Weed Identification, Weed Control, Weed Surveying/Mapping and Technical Advice. On Ground Feral Animal Management, Trapping, Ground Shooting, Aerial Shooting, Aerial Surveying/Mapping. AC/DC chemical training qualifications, affiliated with a Nationally Registered Training Organisation. Training in both an informal and formal capacity under the Conservation and Land Management. Fully Qualified Cattle, Horse Trainer and Riding Instructor. Training in Fencing and Property Maintenance. Informal training for all your NRM GIS needs including collecting, uploading and downloading data using a range of GIS related products, Storing and analysing field data and creating maps to display your data. We can offer a wide range of rural skills-based training to equip people to work on the land. |
